Teddy Picker - Arctic Monkeys (^_^)v

Just wanna share the lyrics of this song with u guys...i soo love listening to this song..Arctic monkeys is well known for creating complicated lyrics..what can u derive from this? :)

Despair to the point till they provoke
The punchline before they have told the joke
The sheer desperation to be seen
Staring at the television screen

Despair to the point where they provoke
You to tell the f*cking punchline before you have told the joke
Sorry sunshine it doesn't exist
It wasn't in the top 100 list

And it's the thousandth time and it's even bolder,
Don't be surprised when you get bent over,
He told ya, that you were gagging for it

She saw it and she grabbed it and it wasn't what it seemed
The kids all dream of making it, whatever that means
Another variation on a theme
A tangle on the television and the magazine
D'you reckon that they do it for a joke?
D'you reckon that they make 'em take an oath?
That says "we are defenders
Of any poseur or professional pretender around"

When did your list replace the twist and turn?
Ah the fist, replaced the kissed-on concern
And if you're bothered, I don't want your prayers
Save it for the morning after

And it's the thousandth time and it's even bolder,
Don't be surprised when you get bent over,
He told ya, that you were gagging for it

Lets have a game on the Teddy Picker
Not quick enough can I have it quicker?
Already thick and you're getting thicker
Lets have a game on the Teddy Picker
Not quick enough can I have it quicker?
Already thick and you're getting thicker

Asuming that all things are equal,
Who'd want to be men of the people
When there's people like you?

BEL260: Sample of an informative/expositry writing

Salam, check your textbook pg. 201

Question 1

(Basically, this is how you put together your points in your essay.)

Introduction

∑ The bar graph and the table show the forms of transport used by the students in a local university and the number of parking lots available at the university respectively.
∑ Overall, there is an increase in all the means of transport used, with most students using personal cars.

Body
∑ The least number of students used other forms of public transport between 2006 and 2007.
∑ The use of the campus buses registered the second lowest number.
∑ Most students preferred personal transport. (car and motorcycle)
∑ However, the increase in the use of personal transport did not commensurate with the number of parking spaces available.

Conclusion
∑ The big increase in the use of personal transport is mainly due to the rise in the number of students from affluent families.
∑ However, the lack of parking spaces may lead to problems such as haphazard parking and traffic congestion on campus.

BM1111C: Speaking Practice

Salam BM1111C,

Just want to make things clear here.
Some step-to-step instructions for the Speaking Assignment:

First, once given the topic assigned by your lecturer, (Yes....I want to CHALLENGE you and I BELIEVE YOU CAN DO IT!) brainstorm and write a draft of what you would like to talk about. Something u have to consider is the form of speech. Is it narrative (storytelling) or informative?

If it's narrative, you just tell a story about your past experience or your future plans (u know what i'm talking about).

If it's informative like "My Favourite Movie" or "My Favourite Idol", what you need to do is to find 3 main points and elaborate the points in your draft.

If it's something like "Vote for me", you have to give us three reasons why we should vote you.

If it's the opposite, you have to use reverse psychology....(^_^)v so like, you tell us the three reasons we should not vote for you. This is going to test your creativity...and your sense of humour...I'm really challenging you!!! and if you managed to do well, you're AWESOME!!!! :)

Second, you are given 4-5 minutes to present in front of the class.

Third, you are to hand me the written version of your speech..(not word-by-word, but the general idea of your speech)...You can hand it to me after the speech or before the speech..

All the best! :)

The first one to speak this Wednesday is Raudhah
Second is Daniel...
and the rest will be randomly picked.

Salam..:)

PD0031A: First blog Assignment (How to submit?)

Salam.

Yesterday, Syafiq called me asking how to submit the blog assignment.

Well, all u have to do is give me the url

that is the http:// at the top...

u can give it to me via facebook through inbox or even by just commenting here.

Notes: Whom or Who?

Salam

So in this post hopefully you can have a clearer idea of the difference between whom and who.
There is even a comic strip at the bottom that talks about this topic.

How do you differentiate between "Whom" and "Who"?

Yesterday, I had a talk with Nani nee-chan and she told me after she had done much research that it depends on the answer of your question.

Okay so let's say the answer is:

The pencil belongs to him.

The question for the above answer is usually:

To whom does this pencil belong to?

Whom = Him

Okay, so I got this simple explanation from a person online, specifically from this site (Wisegeek.com)

I think the easiest way to learn this rule is by thinking of how one would answer the question.

For example:

"To whom do you wish to speak?"

I wish to speak to *him*. (When you use him/her/them, then the question would have "whom," not "who.")

On the other hand,

"Who went to the party last weekend?

*He* did. (When you are able to use "he, she, they, then "who" should be used in the question, rather than "whom.")

hope this helps!

PD0031A: First blog Assignment

Step-by-step instructions
(With Miss Just's emo notes in brackets..):

The Question is:
In what way does the main character of the novel you're reading relate to you?

Read an English novel or a short story. (I prefer Novels)
(this is emo Miss Just..hahaha: Don't start complaining...reading helps you improve your English..why the heck would you still be in my class if you don't want to improve your English? Besides, I'm only asking you to read fiction, not something academic like a textbook.)

For those who wish to be more fluent in their English you should of course finish reading the whole novel/short story or more than two or three chapters of the novel. After you've done much reading, study the main character of the novel. Either the character is a boy or a girl you have to then relate the characteristics of the person to yourself. (Come on, there has to be at least an incident that happened in your life that you find yourself to relate to the character. For example, in my case, reading "The Sound Machine" makes me relate to Klaus the fact that he invents something so unique and he manages to explore a different world through that creation. Through writing fiction I wish to create something different and not something cliche that most readers would find in Malay fiction. And in writing that, I managed to meet various kinds of people that further inspire me in my writing).

Write one or two paragraphs
(Don't forget to tell me the title of the novel and the author)
That's all you need to do for the first blog assignment..

You'll learn something from doing this assignment. I can promise you that.

Ps: Those who fail to submit this next week...ehem ehem....will be punished...hahaha

BEL120, AT1101B: Grammar Presentation

Salam People...

whoa, i'm tired..22 hours of teaching n driving back to kuantan on a Friday is pretty exhausting..

so, i apologize for not writing this earlier.

Ok...yay presentation. I just love looking at you guys in front that I want you to teach in class too. It'll be interesting :)

Ok, what you have to do:

  1. First, study the topic that your group has been assigned to. Everyone in the group must throughly understand the topic because I'll be asking everyone in the group questions too. I'll be a student in the class. I will be an annoying student. Hahaha XD
  2. Second, you don't have to send everyone in front to present but it's okay if you do. The most important thing is everyone in the group must thoroughly understand the grammar topic given.
  3. Third, Exercises! Like I said in class the other day, I want each group to have at least ten questions for everyone and the ten questions are not from the textbook, okay...I prefer you find the questions from the internet. Yes, there is a reason for that. I'll tell you in class. So, try find the grammar questions online okay :)
  4. Fourth, continuing about the exercise thing again, you can choose to print it and make copies for you friend or you can just write in on the board.

Thank you. n can't wait :)
I hope you're clear on what you have to do.
If you need anything, just sms, call, leave a comment here or leave something in the chatbox on the right side of my blog..

Notes: "Annoying"

Salam

The other day I was teaching BEL120 when a group of students asked me about the word "annoying".

Here's the thing, when we say something is annoying, for example:

"Can you stop tapping your foot on the floor?"
"Why?"
"It's annoying."

From the situation up there, we can say that annoying refers to the tapping right?

What happens if I change that a bit?

"I'm annoyed."
"Why are you annoyed?"
"I'm annoyed because you can not stop tapping your foot."

There is a difference right?

  • When I say "It's annoying", it means I'm saying the tapping is annoying.
  • When I say "I'm annoyed" or "I feel annoyed", it means I feel disturbed....but you don't know why I feel disturbed.
However, if you say:

"I'm annoying", it only turns into something else because I'm calling myself "annoying" which isn't good. It's like I'm undermining myself with negative titles or calling myself bad names.

Study how these two words are used: "annoyed" n "annoying".

It's not that hard. Seriously, it's a piece of cake. You can even find such information from your dictionaries.

Good luck!
